The China Productivity Center has announced their third Taiwan International Poster Design Award 2007. This competitions theme will be “Humanitarian Concern”. Department of Commerce, MOEA began implementing the “Commercial Design Improvement Project” since 2004. For the purpose of enhancing Taiwan’s commercial design talent and providing opportunities for interchange with international designers.
The competition is organised by the China Productivity Center and jointly presented by The Graphic Design Association of Taiwan, Taiwan Graphic Design Association, Taiwan Poster Design Association and the Kaohsiung Creators Association, the award scheme is endorsed by Icograda and supported by the Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc..
Awards range from $1,000 – $10,000 and is open to designers from all regions and countries. More information can be found here.
The stated purpose of this event is stated to: “enhance Taiwan’s commercial design talent and providing opportunities for interchange with international designers.” Certainly an admirable goal and like in the past I am sure will produce some wonderful work. As this comes under the auspices of the “Commercial Design Improvement Project” one can only hope that a competition would be launched with the aim of improving the sorry state of Taiwan’s non-advertising related interface design.
