Hong Kong’s incredible skyline and high rises must have been photographed by thousands and from every angle possible. But French artist and photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagrèze has a totally new perspective. Pointing his camera towards the sky, Jacquet-Lagrèze captured these vertigo inducing vistas, highlighting the geometric patterns of the most beautiful skyscraper city, which he describes as a “race to the sky”, in his photo collection Vertical Horizon.

It feels like I haven’t travelled in ages. Here’s my latest Bangkok stay which I am considering for the new year.
A timely press release announcing the recently launched Hansar Bangkok comes as I contemplate my excursions for the new year. Situated smack in the middle of an upper crust neighbourhood on Rajdamri Road, near shopping areas and the greenery of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, Hansar is a great choice for those visiting Bangkok on business or the leisure traveller who doesn’t want to venture too far outside their comfort zone.
Hansar Bangkok appears to be trying to offer a boutique hotel experience with well designed and appointed large suites. Though not appealing to me personally, it looks interesting and sampling their French Provençal menu might be a pleasant if odd change.

Good luck. A beautiful beach marred by broken beer bottles, needles and endless lines of prostitutes, touts and the worst kind of tourists. Slightly interesting place to visit for a night but not a place I could ever imagine enjoying with my family.
Somewhere in the world there may be a city with a more seedy reputation, a place more devoted to the sex industry and more notorious as a haven for criminals on the lam. But probably not.
When dusk comes to this beach resort, a sea of pink neon bulbs casts a pale glow onto the thickly made-up faces of thousands of women (and some men) who sit on bar stools waiting for their patrons.
If Las Vegas is Sin City, Pattaya is a bear hug from Lucifer himself.
